Questions & Answers
We know you have questions. Here are some common FAQs, if you have additional questions please contact us.
Why should You choose Pequest Granite Memorials?
PGM is highly regarded in the monument industry with recommendations from local funeral homes and cemeteries. We have been in the monument business for over 45 years. Our customer base is referral driven because of our proven excellence.
What kind of Granite Do You Use?
We use both domestic and imported granite. The majority of our granite comes from Vermont. Some of the more exotic colors of granite are imported from different countries around the world.
How Long Does It Take To Receive The Monument? ?
There are many factors that go into the monument production process. This includes the type and availability of granite, the size and also the design of the monument. Generally speaking a gray granite monument with normal designs takes about 8-12 weeks.
How Much Do Monument Memorials Cost?
As with anything else, the cost of the monument depends on multiple factors including:
- The color of granite.
- The amount of designs and letting on the monument.
- The size of the monument.
- The shape of the monument.
We have monuments available starting at $950 for a flush marker to over $20,000 for hand carved larger monuments.
Besides the cost of the marker, what other fees do I incur?
All of the monuments must have a concrete foundation (footer) under them to prevent them from sinking, tilting and falling over.
- The foundations are installed by the cemetery where the monument will be placed. PGM takes care of all of the interaction with the cemetery to order the foundation for the size of the monument you select. We require a separate check for this fee. The local cemeteries charge different prices per square inch for the foundations.
- Another trend that is becoming more prevalent from the cemeteries is a requirement for a permit to actually place the monument in the cemetery. Again, this is an added fee to the actual monument charged by the cemetery.
What size monument does my cemetery allow?
- All of the cemeteries have rules and regulations as to what they will allow for monuments. Prior to final contract, we always check with the cemetery to confirm the monument our customer wants fits the parameters the cemetery allows. To help us with this process, we ask our customers to bring the cemetery deed with them to the appointment.
Some examples of these restrictions include:
- The maximum size allowed for the number of graves the monument will be placed on.
- There are granite color restrictions in some cemeteries
- There are style restrictions as some cemeteries only allow flush/flat markers.
What are your business hours?
Currently we have hours by appointment. This can be during the day, evening, nights and even weekends. We try to be a flexible as our customers need as we know this is not an easy process for most folks.
8. Where can we see a display of your work?
Besides our website gallery, we like to meet our customers in person at the local cemetery and show them our workmanship. We can explain the different engraving processes, as well as, the color, shape and designs of our previous monuments.
Our quality service and reasonable prices will help you choose the perfect monument for your loved one
We provide the same careful attention whether you choose a small marker or a larger family monument.
